Make Do & Mend

‘Make Do and Mend’ was a war-time slogan. There are many lessons we can learn from this Era. I was inspired to create this notebook by the inventiveness and tales of old clothes being un-stitched and re-appropriated for whatever purpose was necessary back then. I noticed that a lot of my older Design book jackets had become warn after much use.

It's fantastic to be able to refurbish and re-appropriate old belongings and materials. If you're always conscious of what things could be used for or fixed with in the future, it'll become easier. If you've ever built a PC inside a plastic crate (we've all tried fixing things when we're devoted to the idea of web-surfing or party bets on the weekend and the PC isn't turning on) or you've turned a bunch of old tshirts into a towel or a tote bag, you'll know exactly what I mean. But as it was, those notebooks were looking a little worse for wear.
